File this under ‘it worked in the movies, but not in real life. Just like any sci-fi geek has seen or even Harry Potter fan have loved too, we have always thought it would be cool to have video in our print media. Right?
Now it has happened, and with watching this brief demonstration … I think I can live without it.
Just imagine reading this on a quiet flight and opening to a certain page to then have the entire cabin hear what advert you’re looking at and I doubt the magazine comes with a headphone port. While the idea seems amazing – ground breaking etc, I just get past the vision of Gob Bluth and Franklin in Arrested Development. “My name is Judge!”

The negativity aside this still holds some “YAY” factor to me. Somebody has finally done it. To be able to get portable video, into this size and into a mass produced publication is amazing. Take the sound away and this could possibly be the future for print advertising in decades to come. It is the first risky step to what could eventually become a new element to an industry that is slowly dying … depending on who you ask.
